NORTH BAY, ON - The Durham Lords men's volleyball team saw their winning streak come to an end on Friday evening with a loss in straight sets to the Canadore Panthers.
After Canadore took the opening set 25-18, the Lords came within striking distance in the second set but couldn't finish the job with a 25-22 loss. The third set would be even closer as the Lords showed all the fight they had in them, but ultimately lost 26-24 to end the match.
Eight members of the Lords registered kills on the night, led by Michael Penney (Whitby, ON) and Tyler Jegen (Calgary, AB) who accounted for three each.
Kyle Travis (Courtice, ON) was the playmaker, recording 14 assists for the Lords. Travis was also a force at the net, generating points off of five blocked shots.
Nandor Gallo (Oshawa, ON), Josh Padmore (Hamilton, ON) and Carter Reid (Oshawa, ON) each also blocked a shot in the game.
From the service line, the Lords served three aces coming from Jegen, Travis and William Egan (Cobden, ON).Â
There was a three-way tie for the team lead in digs with three between Jacques Tournadre (Milton, ON), Gallo and Jegen.
The Lords will cross off their final match of the regular season on Saturday as Durham makes the trip to Barrie to take on the Georgian Grizzlies.
