TDSSAA Champion Kerlon Bailey-Shallow Commits to Durham College

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's volleyball team add size for the 2026-27 season, welcoming Kerlon Bailey-Shallow to the squad.

Kerlon's path to Durham was guided by purpose both on and off the court. Set to graduate from West Hill Collegiate Institute in 2026, he was searching for a school that matched his passion for sport and his career ambitions. When he learned about the Sport Management program at Durham, the decision became clear.

"I heard that their Sport Management program was the best in the province," he said. "I wanted a program that could get me a job working in sports."

His athletic résumé is equally impressive. Playing with 41Six Horizon, Kerlon helped lead his high school team to a Toronto District Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TDSSAA) city championship in 2026 and earned Athlete of the Year honours from 2022 through 2025.

Known for his versatility and composure under pressure, he brings a competitive edge that fits well with Durham's culture.

"Kerlon is the kind of athlete who immediately raises the level of competition in the gym," said Head Coach Dwayne Cochrane. "He brings great size, athleticism and a strong work ethic, but what stood out most to us was his maturity and composure in big moments. We believe he has the potential to make a real impact in our program, and we're excited to help him continue growing both as a player and as a student-athlete."

With his arrival, the Lords gain a dynamic athlete who understands the importance of the team's goals and the values that drive them. He's eager to contribute to a program with high expectations and a tradition of excellence, bringing the same energy that earned him the final kill in one of his most memorable matches.

"I'm excited to be part of a program that cares about winning and developing players," Kerlon said. "I can't wait to get started."

The 2026-27 OCAA men's volleyball schedule is set to be released in June. Bailey-Shallow will be entering the Sport Management program in September.
