Box Score 1 KITCHENER, ON - The Durham College women's softball pick up their third and fourth wins of the seasons, defeating Conestoga and Seneca for a perfect 4-0 record through opening weekend.
In the first game, Conestoga took the lead early after scoring one run. However in the bottom half of the same inning, the Lords exploded offensively for five runs. Jocelyn Shelton (Aylmer, ON) hit a single to drive in a run while staring down an 0-2 count.
Conestoga battled their way back to a tie game in the second but it only lasted until the bottom of the third when Kaleigh MacIntyre (Bowmanville, ON) drove in a run to take the lead back.
Morgan Salter (Battersea, ON) earned the win for the Lords, only allowing five hits over five innings pitched. Sydney Redick (Alvinston, ON) collected the save on the mound in the final innings.
A double from Shelton and a triple hit by Jessica Greene (Stratford, ON) in the top of the first inning put the Lords ahead early 3-0. Their bats stayed hot in the second inning, scoring five runs on six hits.
Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) earned her second win in as many days this weekend. She surrendered only two hits and zero runs over five innings while striking out four batters.
The game only needed five innings, with the Lords winning 12-0 for their first shutout of the season.
Durham are back in action with a road trip on Friday, September 15 to take on the Sheridan Bruins in a doubleheader at 5:00 / 7:00 PM.
