Box Score 2 OSHAWA, ON - Through eight games this season, the Durham College women's softball team remain undefeated with a pair of wins over the Fanshawe Falcons.
In their first home game of the season, the Lords scored five runs in the opening inning before doubling their total in the second.
Natalie Clemens (Marmora, ON) crossed home in the third inning to take an 11-1 lead, before the Lords added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to end it early, winning 15-1.
Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) pitched the entirety of 5.0 innings, striking out eight batters and only conceding one run with two batters walked.
At the plate, six players had multi-run performances. Grace Hearns (Napanee, ON), Sydney Redick (Alvinston, ON), Jessica Greene (Stratford, ON), Hannah Oke (Brooklin, ON) and Kaleigh MacIntyre (Bowmanville, ON) each scored two runs.
Durham's bats were on fire again to start the game, tallying four runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by a triple hit by MacIntyre that pushed Chloe Showers (Uxbridge, ON) and Greene home.
Both sides went scoreless through the next two innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Ryleigh Easton (Bowmanville, ON), Jocelyn Shelton (Aylmer, ON) and Abi Suffel (Whitby, ON) made their way home to make it 7-0.
After Fanshawe found their way on the board on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, the Lords scored four more runs to end it in five innings with an 11-1 win.
Morgan Salter (Battersea, ON) pitched a 5.0 inning performance, striking out five and only conceding a single run.
The Lords are back in action on Thursday, September 21 with a trip to Hamilton for a doubleheader against the Mohawk Mountaineers.
