SCARBOROUGH, ON - On Sunday afternoon, the Durham College women's volleyball team suffered only their third loss of the season, falling in straight sets to the Centennials Colts.
It was a tight opening set to begin the afternoon, falling 25-22 before the Colts had a dominating performance in the second set, taking it 25-14.
With their backs up against the wall, the Lords made a heavy push to avoid the sweep but just fell short, losing 26-24 in the third set.
Jayde Smyth (Canmore, AB) was the team-leader in points with 8.0, hitting seven kills and one service ace, to go along with three digs on the afternoon. Her seven kill performance is the highest total she has had since her OCAA debut in October when she hit nine against Fleming.
Amanda Larsen (Toronto, ON) also stood out with five kills and two blocked shots, while Chelsea Oke (Brooklin, ON) put three kills, two blocked shots, a service ace and eight digs on the score sheet.
The Lords will play next in Ottawa on Friday, January 26 at 6:00 PM against the Algonquin Wolves.
