Emerson Kinney signs on for Durham from Kamloops

OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College women's volleyball is adding height, skill and leadership to its front line with the signing of Emerson Kinney, a middle blocker from Kamloops, B.C.

The newest Lord brings experience from both high school and club volleyball, where she has consistently taken on leadership roles and competed at a high level. Her signing marks an exciting addition to a program that values toughness at the net and a strong team culture.

Kinney's volleyball résumé speaks for itself. From 2022 to 2026, she played for South Kamloops Secondary School's girls volleyball team, serving as both captain and co-captain during her tenure.

She mirrored that leadership with the Kamloops Volleyball Association (KVA) over the same span, helping guide her teams through competitive seasons and earning an invitation to the Team B.C. High Performance Camp in 2024 and 2025.

"Emerson is the kind of player who impacts the game in a lot of different ways," said Head Coach Tony Clarke. "She's competitive, communicates well and has proven she can lead while playing at a high level. Her commitment to improving her game makes her a great fit for our program, and we're excited to see what she'll bring to our team."

Her efforts culminated in a major highlight this year, when her club team captured first place at the provincial championships. That experience, paired with her leadership roles, has shaped Kinney into a player who thrives under pressure and leads by example on and off the court.

Standing at 5-foot-11, Kinney brings an imposing presence to the net and a competitive edge that fits the Durham College culture. As a middle blocker, she is expected to bolster the team's defence and add depth to its attack, providing the Lords with another reliable option in the front row.

Kinney's arrival also underscores the program's commitment to recruiting student-athletes who embody character, work ethic and a team-first mentality.

With her championship experience and leadership background, she is poised to make an immediate impact as the Lords continue to build toward their goals in the OCAA.
