OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College women's volleyball is getting a boost of versatility and energy with the addition of Claire Dubé, a multi-position athlete from Kamloops, British Columbia.
Dubé officially joins the Lords as a utility player, bringing a strong skill set and a competitive edge to the program.
Standing at 5-foot-7, Dubé has spent much of her high school career as an outside hitter but is ready to contribute wherever the team needs her most. Her adaptability and experience make her a valuable addition to a roster aiming to compete at the highest level in the OCAA.
Dubé's decision to choose DC came down to team culture and community spirit. "I chose Durham College because of the team dynamic. They are able to have fun and enjoy the sport while also challenging each other to get better," she said. She also pointed to the atmosphere on campus: "The sports community is full of pride."
Her commitment is matched by her excitement to join a group that balances intensity with camaraderie—qualities she believes will help her develop both as a player and a person.
Before arriving at Durham, Dubé built an impressive résumé with South Kamloops Secondary School where she played volleyball. She also competed for the Kamloops Volleyball Association (KVA) for five seasons. In the summer of 2023, she represented the Zone 2 Okanagan team at the BC Cup, further sharpening her game against top provincial talent.
Her efforts have earned recognition both on and off the court. This year, Dubé received the Heather McDonald Memorial Volleyball Award, the Athlete of the Year Award, and the Titan Award for all-around sports achievement as a multi-sport athlete. Academically, she earned an academic honours gold cord.
"Claire has a really good feel for the game," said Head Coach Tony Clarke. "She understands what her team needs from her and isn't afraid to step into different roles to help the group succeed. That kind of selfless approach is something we value, and we think she'll continue to develop into an important piece of our program."
Dubé's passion for volleyball shines through when she talks about her favourite memories in the sport. "My most memorable moment was getting a big kill on my senior night and having the whole gym roar and cheer," she said.
Now ready to begin her post-secondary journey, Dubé will pursue an Honours Bachelor in Behavioural Sciences while wearing the green and gold.

With a strong work ethic, a team-first mentality, and a genuine love for the game, Claire Dubé is poised to make an immediate impact for the Lords on the court and in the classroom.
