OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's softball team win their 22nd OCAA gold medal in program history, completing a perfect season.
Durham finishes their season with a 24-0 record in regular season play, moving on to the CCSA National Championship in Carp where they won five straight, defeating Ottawa, UBC-Okanagan, Toronto, Western and Humber en route to the program's first national gold medal.
Returning home to Babcock Field for the OCAA Women's Softball Championship, the Lords blanked Conestoga 10-0 in the quarter-final before defeating St. Clair 5-1 in the semifinal to earn a direct bid into the gold medal game. In the final game of the season, the Lords won 8-0 over the Humber Hawks to cap off an undefeated season.
"We starting putting this thing together about a year ago, went after the best talent we could find, and we're so fortunate that they came to Durham College," said head coach Jamie Baker. "When you have this much talent, coaching is easy … I'm ecstatic for the girls who came here, I'm ecstatic for the girls who stayed here and put it all together to have a storybook season."

The day begun with a bronze medal game between the St. Clair Saints and Humber Hawks that would the team falling short the bronze medal, while the winning side had a back door entry to the gold medal game.
Following three scoreless innings to start the game, the Hawks scored a pair of runs on a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fourth and added an insurance marker in the fifth to win it 3-0.
St. Clair took home bronze after winning back-to-back gold medals in the last two seasons. This marks the eighth consecutive season that the Saints have earned a medal at the OCAA championship.
The gold medal showdown was a rematch of the 2024 CCSA National Championship game between Durham and Humber.
Jayden Bennett and Jessica Benz opened the scoring in the bottom of the second off the bat of Chelsea Oke who hit a single to send both crossing home.
Jessica Greene made it 3-0 in the third before Benz scored her second run of the game to extend the lead to four.
Humber couldn't cool off Durham's bats in the fourth inning as two more runs chased the starting pitcher out of the game and the first batter that the relief pitcher faced also sent a runner home with Greene scoring her second run of the game.
Durham added one more run for good measure in the sixth inning when a sacrifice fly out to right field allowed Jones to make it 8-0.
After earning bronze in each of the last three years, the Hawks add silver to their run of podium finishes.

"After the win at nationals we just kept humble and remembered that every game is a new game," said Peyton Jones. "You can't bring past successes into new games so we just had to play hard and stay in a strong mental space."
After a successful regular season campaign that saw Jones earn OCAA women's softball player of the year and rookie of the year, she was named championship MVP.
