Undefeated streak extends to 20 games

OSHAWA, Ont. — The Durham Lords continued their undefeated run in OCAA action, overpowering the Conestoga Condors with a commanding doubleheader sweep at Babcock Field on Wednesday.

The Lords showcased their offensive firepower, winning the first game 17-2 and the second 11-1, both in shortened, mercy-rule contests.

In the first game, the Lords wasted no time. Durham exploded for seven runs in the second inning, followed by a 10-run third that sealed the 17-2 victory.

Durham's offense was unstoppable, tallying 18 hits, with key contributions up and down the lineup. Jocelyn Shelton was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored. In addition to Shelton, six Lords had multi-run games in the contest, including Jayden Bennett who also went a perfect 3-for-3 at bat with a pair of runs.

Makayla Benz pitched the entirety of the game, only allowing two hits and striking out four.

The second game followed a similar script, though Conestoga struck first with a run in the top of the first inning. However, Durham quickly regained control with two runs in their half of the inning and never looked back. The Lords scored in every inning to secure an 11-1 win in five innings, extending their OCAA record to a perfect 20-0.

Durham's bats stayed hot, recording 8 hits and capitalizing on Conestoga's pitching struggles. The Lords' disciplined approach at the plate paid off, as they took advantage of every opportunity, including several extra-base hits.

On the defensive side, Durham's pitching was stellar. Morgan Salter got the win, striking out eight of 11 batters faced across 3.0 innings. Peyton Jones came in to end the game, throwing six strikeouts and refusing to allow a hit in her pair of innings.

Jessica Benz saw three's across her stat line, making contact in all three trips to the plate, scoring three runs and batting in three RBI's.

Durham is back in action on Friday as the Lords host the Sheridan Bruins for another doubleheader at Babcock Field. First pitch is set for 6:00 PM.
