OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords women's basketball team fought hard but ultimately fell to the George Brown Huskies 53-44 on Wednesday night.
Durham displayed tenacity on the defensive end, recording 17 steals and two blocks while forcing 24 turnovers.Â
Letyjah Wilson anchored the defence with six steals, adding a team-high 14 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Emily Balkissoon also contributed 13 points and four steals, hitting four three-pointers to keep the Lords in the game.
The Lords started slow, trailing 13-7 after the first quarter and 30-20 by halftime. George Brown further pulled away in the third quarter, and while the Lords mounted a small rally in the fourth, it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Heading into the holiday break, the Lords return to regular season action at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre on January 10, 2025 against the Loyalist Lancers at 6:00 PM.
