KING CITY, Ont. - The Durham Lords women's basketball team pulled off a hard-fought win against the Seneca Sting on Tuesday afternoon, grinding out a 54-50 victory in a game marked by defensive intensity.
After a close first three quarters, the Lords found themselves in a back-and-forth battle in the final quarter. Durham's defence held strong, with the team forcing a total of 30 Seneca turnovers and making 14 steals throughout the game.Â
Telia Campbell and Taige Matosas-Adderley were particularly active on the defensive end, combining for EIGHT steals to disrupt Seneca's offence.
Leading the charge for the Lords was Matosas-Adderley, who put up an impressive 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Emily Balkissoon also made a significant impact, contributing nine points and six rebounds, including two crucial three-pointers in the second quarter to help Durham stay within reach.Â
Onika Leveridge provided a strong inside presence, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds. Letyjah Wilson was a force on the boards, grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds to anchor Durham's defense and limit Seneca's second-chance opportunities.
With the win, the Lords improve to 2-2 through their first four games. Durham return to the court on Friday, November 15 at home against the Algonquin Wolves. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
