OSHAWA, ON - The OCAA unveiled its award winners for the 2023-24 men's basketball season with several members of the team taking home awards.
O'Shane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) cleaned up more than anybody, being named east division player of the year, east division defensive player of the year, a first team all-star and a CCAA All-Canadian.
Taylor-Douglas was the OCAA leader in assists with 139 and placed second provincially in steals with 60. He finished the season with 15.4 points per game and was top-10 in the OCAA in field goals made.
Desmond Rowley earned east division coach of the year honours for the second consecutive season after leading the Lords through a season in which they finished with the highest win percentage in program history.
Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) was among the east division second team all-stars. He was ninth in Ontario in rebounds per game with 7.4, grabbing 125 boards over the entire season. The vast majority, 107, were defensive rebounds.
One of the most feared players in the league on defence, Stoop blocked 25 shots to put him top five in the category. He was also an efficient shooter with the sixth best field goal percentage in the OCAA (56.4).
Jasean Elliott (Toronto, ON) had an incredible freshman season with the Lords, starting in all 18 games during the regular season - earning him a spot on the east division all-rookie team. His 45 steals were the fifth most in the OCAA and his 55.9 field goal percentage was seventh in the province. He also finished the season with 13.6 points per game, as well as a total of 48 assists and 80 rebounds.
Rudy Fakih (Toronto, ON) joins Elliott on the east division all-rookie team. Making appearances in 18 games this season, Fakih averaged 7.9 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game in 19.7 minutes of action per game. He racked up the assists with 56, as well as 24 steals.
