Men's volleyball finish regular season on a thrilling note

OSHAWA, ON - In their final home game of the season, the Durham College men's volleyball team won in an absolute thriller as they came back from two sets down to defeat the Loyalist Lancers in five sets.

Durham went ahead early in the first set, but slowly watched that lead slip away as the Lancers battled back to win it 25-19.

Loyalist had to fight from behind again in the second set, with the Lords leading 18-15 late in the frame. The Lancers powered to an 8-2 run to flip the fortunes around and on extra serves, put the set away with a service ace to win it 26-24.

With their backs to the wall, Durham kept their afternoon alive with a 25-22 win as the Lancers served the ball into the net to end the set.

The Lords found themselves behind early, trailing 12-5 in the fourth set to the Lancers. Eventually trailing 24-20 and the Lancers being one point away from putting it away, Durham scored six unanswered points to send the fans into a frenzy as they won it 26-20 to force a fifth and final tiebreaker set.

Taking advantage of their momentum, the Lords led through the vast majority of the fifth set and reached the magic number 15 when a Lancers serve went long and out of bounds. Durham took the set 15-11 to win it all in five sets.
