OSHAWA, Ont. - Jeremy Jacques holds the distinction of being the first student-athlete in curling at Durham College since 1996, as the curling team signs their first recruit since being admitted into the OCAA once again.
Jacques is a local talent from Courtice where he graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School.
His home curling club is the Oshawa Curling Club, where the Durham Lords are soon to call home. He has played curling for a decade - playing competitively for the last seven years.
He brings strong leadership skills to the newly formed squad. Jacques served as head coach of the U15 men's team at the Oshawa Curling Club, winning multiple tournaments throughout Ontario.
As a player in recent years, he placed fourth at the Ontario U18 men's provincials in Kingston and was a finalist in the Canadian Winter Games qualifiers.
The OCAA announced in the spring its approval of Durham's re-entry into varsity curling, beginning with the 2024-25 season.
Jeremy will continue his studies in the Entrepreneurship and Small Business program.
