Lords sweep Phoenix on Tuesday

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords continued their winning ways with a commanding three-set sweep over the Fleming Phoenix, winning 25-13, 25-9, and 25-15 at home in Oshawa, improving their record for the season to 12-3.

Durham's offensive efficiency was on full display, with the team recording 35 kills on 71 total attempts for an impressive .380 hitting percentage. 

Leading the attack was Tia Chang, who finished with nine kills on 14 attempts, hitting an outstanding .571 while also adding four service aces and two solo blocks. 

Elizabeth McFarland was another standout performer, delivering five kills on six attempts without committing an error, hitting an exceptional .833 for the match. Veronika Cavojska also made a significant impact, contributing eight kills on 13 attempts with a hitting percentage of .462.

Setter Erin Black controlled the pace of the game, dishing out 21 assists and adding four digs, ensuring the Lords' offence operated smoothly. 

Brooke Young provided additional support with nine assists and three digs, playing a key role in facilitating Durham's attack.

Defensively, the Lords were solid, limiting Fleming to a .133 hitting percentage. Durham recorded 30 digs, with Alisia Lush leading the way with seven. The team also tallied three total blocks, including two solo efforts from Chang, which played a crucial role in disrupting Fleming's offensive flow.

Durham's service game was another highlight of the match, as the team recorded 15 aces. Chelsea Oke and Chang led the serving effort with four aces each.

The Lords are back in action on Saturday, January 25 in Belleville against the Loyalist Lancers at 1:00 PM.
