DC names Lords Leadership Team for 2025-26

OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College Athletics is proud to introduce the Lords Leadership Team for the 2025–26 season, a group of student-athletes selected to represent the voice, vision, and values of the varsity community both on and off the field.

This year's team is composed of four standout leaders: Megan Bent (women's rugby), Chloe Hercia (women's soccer), Teagan Marks (men's soccer), and Jocelyn Shelton (women's softball), each serving as captains and culture-drivers within their respective programs.

Through collaboration, mentorship, and community involvement, the group will work alongside the Athletics department to enhance the overall student-athlete experience.

The leadership team encourage all student-athletes at Durham to stay in touch and get involved.

"Show up to events we host and have your voices heard," Teagan Marks mentioned on Lords Last Play with Megan Bent. "This is a fresh start for us and we can always get help with more ideas."

Fifth-year student-athlete Megan Bent brings a wealth of experience to the team, balancing her role as an athlete and serving as Executive Chair of the Durham College Students Association. Chloe Hercia, Teagan Marks, and Jocelyn Shelton, all entering their fourth varsity seasons, have each demonstrated consistent leadership within their teams, setting the tone through accountability, work ethic, and commitment to community.

Together, the group will participate in leadership workshops, assist in organizing varsity-wide events, and collaborate on initiatives that foster connection between student-athletes, campus partners, and the greater Durham community.

"Megan, Chloe, Teagan, and Jocelyn have each demonstrated exceptional leadership within their teams, and this initiative gives them the platform to connect across programs, share ideas, and help shape the future of varsity athletics at Durham College," said Scott Dennis, Director of Athletics & Recreation.

The Lords Leadership Team will meet regularly throughout the academic year to identify opportunities for growth within the athletics program, and strengthen the link between varsity athletics and the student body.
