OSHAWA, Ont. – Durham College's Sports Information and Marketing Coordinator Zachery Ellis has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 30 Under 30 Class of 2025, recognizing him as one of the nation's rising professionals in collegiate athletics communications.
The CSC 30 Under 30 program, created in 2022 by the organization's Young Professionals Committee, celebrates emerging communicators across all levels of college athletics. Recipients are recognized for excellence in strategic communications, creative production, digital innovation, and their overall impact on campus communities.
"We are proud to recognize and honour the rising talent and amazing achievements of so many incredible individuals with the latest 30 Under 30 class," said CSC President Patrick Crawford. "College Sports Communicators, at its core, is an organization driven by the strengths, skills and passions of its members. As new communicators join our ranks and begin to build their careers, we are fortunate to take this opportunity to celebrate the best of CSC's young professionals. This class is representative of both the diversity of our membership and the breadth of our overall community. Congratulations to this year's honourees."
Ellis, who leads the storytelling and digital presence for the Durham Lords, becomes one of just 30 young professionals selected across North America and one of only two Canadians recognized this year, joining Redeemer University's Brett Jenkins.
In his role, Ellis is responsible for shaping the voice of Durham College Athletics across social media, website coverage, game day communications, and community engagement. His work has helped elevate the profile of DC Athletics at both the provincial and national level.
"Zach's work reflects a deep commitment to our student-athletes and the broader Durham College community. His ability to capture the spirit of our programs and share it with others has made a significant impact," said Scott Dennis, Director of Athletics & Recreation. "We're thrilled to see him recognized by CSC and proud to have him as part of our department."
A Durham College graduate, Ellis began his journey in collegiate athletics as a student in the Sports Management program. During his studies, he completed an internship in Media Relations with the Toronto Maple Leafs, an experience that launched his path into sport communications. Following graduation, he joined the Edmonton Oilers behind the scenes for four years before returning to Durham College in 2022 to begin his role with the Department of Athletics & Recreation.
"I'm really grateful to be named to the College Sports Communicators 30 Under 30 Class of 2025. I'm fortunate to work with people who support me, challenge me, and make our projects better every day. I've always felt that the work we do is a collective effort," said Ellis.
