OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham closed out the fall semester in style on Saturday afternoon, sweeping St. Lawrence 3-0 and sending the home crowd into the break with plenty to feel good about.
The Lords controlled the match from start to finish, taking sets by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-22.
Durham's offence ran smoothly all game, spreading the ball around and finishing with 29 kills on an impressive .303 hitting percentage.
The balanced approach gave the Surge trouble early, with strong setting from Jalen Arias and Connor Matthews helping the Lords find rhythm.
Will Doucet was particularly efficient, putting down five kills on 10 swings without an error, while Jonas Felix and Liam Gould added steady production on the outside, combining for eight kills.
The serving line became a major factor as the match wore on. Durham delivered 11 aces, with Arias and Shane Poleon applying steady pressure that kept St. Lawrence on its heels.
Defensively, Durham stayed composed and disciplined, collecting 27 digs and reading the Surge's attack well. Felix led the way in the back court with six.
The Lords also controlled the net, finishing with seven solo blocks, as Poleon, Stuart, Hendry, Doucet, and Arias all contributed to shutting down St. Lawrence's lanes.
With the win, Durham moves to 5-3 heading into the winter break.
Durham will return to regular season action on Saturday, January 17, 2026 against the Georgian Grizzlies at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.
