OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham Lords women's soccer team earned their first victory of the season in commanding fashion, defeating the George Brown Huskies 7–0 on Wednesday evening.
The Lords struck twice in the opening half to take control. Alexis Bayley opened the scoring in the 26th minute, finishing a setup from Sage Thomas-Roberts. Just before halftime, Daelynn Tulloch doubled the lead after being sprung by Skylar Moher, sending Durham into the break with a 2–0 advantage.
The second half belonged to Thomas-Roberts, who erupted for a natural hat trick in just under two minutes of play. The forward scored three goals less than two minutes apart, putting the game well out of reach and giving Durham a commanding 5–0 lead.
Durham added two more goals late to seal the result. Laura Antunes scored in the 84th minute before Lily Whitbread capped off the evening less than two minutes later, assisted by Erin Michalicka.
Goalkeeper Kadi Sutherland recorded the clean sheet, while the Lords' attack finished with 28 shots, including 20 on target.
The Lords are back in action on Saturday as Durham takes on the St. Lawrence Surge at 1:00 PM in Kingston.
