OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords earned a composed four-set win at home on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Georgian Grizzlies during the program's annual Alumni Day match and welcoming back the Durham College volleyball family from across the years. 

After splitting the opening two sets, the Lords settled in and controlled the final two frames to close out the match in front of a strong home crowd with a 3-1 win.

Durham's offence was balanced throughout the afternoon. Elizabeth McFarland led the way with 13 kills and added 10 digs to contribute at both ends of the court. 

Chelsea Oke followed closely with nine kills, while Jessie Buck provided consistent production with seven kills and Veronica Cavojska added five.

Defensively, the Lords were steady and disciplined. Cavojska anchored the backcourt with 13 digs, while Jessica Docherty, Oke and McFarland each finished with double-digit defensive efforts, recording 12, 12 and 10 digs respectively. 

Brooke Young recorded 21 assists on the day to go along with seven digs, two kills and a service ace.

Jessie Buck tallied seven kills, four service aces, four digs and a solo block for 12.0 points.

With the win, Durham improves to 8-1 on the season and extends its current winning streak to five matches.

Durham will be back in action on Sunday as the Lords host the Canadore Panthers at 1:00 p.m.
