DC women's volleyball place fourth

KING CITY, Ont. - The women's volleyball season came to a close Saturday afternoon in King City, as the Lords fell in three sets to the Seneca Sting in the OCAA Championship bronze medal match. The result sees Durham finish fourth in the province to wrap up the 2025-26 campaign.

Durham came out sharp in the opening set, hitting .423 with 13 kills and just two errors. The Lords traded points early and stayed within reach behind strong work from the outside, but Seneca found a late push to take the set 25-21.

The second set was tightly contested throughout. Durham recorded 10 kills and despite a 7-3 run for the Lords to end the set, the Sting reached 25 first.

In the third, Seneca's efficiency increased while Durham's attack cooled. The Lords hit .086 in the final set and despite battling through long rallies, were unable to extend the match, dropping the set 25-16.

Jessie Buck led the way offensively for Durham with 14 kills on 29 attempts, posting an efficient .448 hitting percentage for 16.0 points.

Elizabeth McFarland added eight kills, a service ace and a block, finishing with 10.0 points, while Chelsea Oke contributed six kills and 10 digs for player of the match honours.

Setter Brooke Young dished out 16 assists to go along with two aces and five digs.

Defensively, Alisia Lush anchored the back row with 15 digs as Durham totalled 40 as a team.

As a group, the Lords recorded 32 kills over the three sets, competing hard through stretches of momentum swings against a Seneca side that finished the match hitting .394.

McFarland earned Championship All-Star honours.

Durham closes the season as one of the top four teams in Ontario, capping off a year that once again had them playing meaningful matches deep into February.
