OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College women's volleyball is adding west coast talent to its front line with the signing of outside hitter Ashlynn LeNeveu.
The Nanaimo, B.C. product officially joins the Lords for the upcoming season, bringing a championship pedigree and a reputation for work ethic to the program.
For LeNeveu, the decision felt right from the moment she stepped on campus. "I chose Durham College because of the team culture, work ethic, and welcoming environment," she said. "From the minute I walked into the gym, I felt like I was already a part of the team."
LeNeveu arrives at Durham following a decorated high school and club career on Vancouver Island.
She helped lead Nanaimo District Secondary School to the Varsity Senior Girls Island Championship in 2023, her most memorable moment on the court to date, and earned multiple medals with Mariners Volleyball Club across 16U, 17U, and 18U divisions.
Along the way, she picked up team captaincy, sportsmanship honours, and beach volleyball podium finishes, all while developing the consistency and leadership that coaches value.
Standing at 5-foot-10, LeNeveu adds versatility to the Lords' attack, capable of scoring in transition and contributing on serve receive. Her experience in both indoor and beach formats has helped refine her ball control and decision-making under pressure, traits that should translate well to the OCAA level.
What stood out most during her recruitment was how naturally she connected with the group. "The environment the coaching staff provides is one where I can see myself continuing to grow as an athlete and a person," LeNeveu said. "Everyone was so kind. I can see that all the staff truly care about their athletes, and you can clearly sense the community within the program."
That sense of belonging sealed her commitment, and she's eager to get started in green and gold. "I am so excited to be a Lord!" she said.
With LeNeveu on board, Durham adds another competitor to its already deep roster. One who knows what it takes to win and who embraces the everyday grind that drives team success. For the Lords, it's a welcome addition. For LeNeveu, it's the beginning of the next chapter she's been working toward.
In September, Ashlynn will be studying in the Police Foundations program. The 2026-27 OCAA women's volleyball schedule will be released this summer.
