WELLAND, Ont. – The Durham College volleyball programs split their OCAA exhibition doubleheader against the Niagara Knights on Wednesday night.

The women's team led things off with a 3-2 marathon win over the Knights. The teams would trade the first four sets back-and-forth with Durham taking sets one and three by scores of 25-20 and 25-17. Niagara was able to rebound both times earning 27-25 and 25-23 victories in sets two and four.

In the fifth and deciding set, it was the Lords who got the last laugh as they were able to pull out a tight 15-13 victory.

Durham is 7-5 to start the season and will travel to Oakville this weekend for the Sheridan Invitational.

On the men's side, Durham's head coach George Matsusaki had a chance to let some of his youth get some court time as the Lords had up to four freshman playing at once.

Although the Lords put up a fight, they could not escape with a victory as Niagara won the match 3-1.

Durham took the first set by a score of 25-23, but Niagara would sweep the next three including winning the fourth by a score of 29-27.

The Lords are 4-3 in three set matches this season and will head to North York this weekend for the Seneca Sting Invitational.
