Lords and La Cite go the distance in men's volleyball

OSHAWA, Ont. – La Cite gave the Durham College men's volleyball team all they could handle on Saturday night but it was the Lords who would escape the CRWC with a 3-2 victory. The Lords needed a comeback effort in their second match of the weekend as they won by sets scores of 18-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18 and 16-14.
 
This marks Durham's second win in two days as they swept the No. 9 ranked Algonquin Thunder on Friday night.
 
Setter Riley McAllister had a season high 34 assist performance to go along with two aces, two blocks and one kill.
 
Brad VanHartingsveldt had a team high 16 points which include 12 kills while veterans Jeremy Hoekstra, Luke Kilbourn and Alex Van Staalduinen had 10, nine and eight kills respectively.
 
Dan Popovich continued to shine on defence for the green and gold as he had 12 digs in the match.
 
The majority of the Coyotes offence was supplied by Keith Marier who had 19 kills.
 
The Lords are 3-1 to start the season and are one of four teams with one loss on the year, as there are no teams in the OCAA east region remain undefeated.
 
Durham will be back on home court on Thursday night when they host the Fleming Knights. First serve at the CRWC is at 8 p.m.
