Durham College extends their winning streak to six
OCAA Men's Volleyball: Durham defeated Georgian 3-0
BARRIE, Ont. – The Durham College men's volleyball team picked up their sixth straight conference victory on Friday night with a 3-0 sweep over the Georgian Grizzlies.
Set scores in the match were 25-14, 25-18 and 25-19.
Setter
Riley McAllister (Oshawa, Ont.) spread out the Lords offensive attack as four players had 15 or more attacks.
Jeremy Hoekstra (Cobourg, Ont.) took advantage of most of his opportunities as he recorded seven kills on 15 attempts for a .467 kill percentage.
Brad VanHartingsveldt (Newcastle, Ont.) also had a high hitting percentage as he converted seven of 16 attempts.
McAllister finished the night with 29 assists, while adding four kills to his totals. Alex VanStaalduinen (Peterborough, Ont.) had a team-high eight kills and
Luke Kilbourn (Ingersoll, Ont.) had seven. Dan Popovich (Pickering, Ont.) was once again Durham's defensive standout as he had 10 digs.
Jason Grimm of Georgian would lead all scorers with 10 kills in the losing effort.
Durham (7-1) moves a half-game ahead of the Algonquin Thunder (6-1) for first place in the OCAA east region standings. The Lords winning-streak will be put to the test on Wednesday night when they travel to Loyalist College to take on the 6-2 Lancers at the Lancerdome.
