OSHAWA, Ont. – Due to the unplayable condition of the natural grass field on campus, Durham College has moved their OCAA playoff match on Saturday to the Oshawa Civic Recreation Complex (Field #5). Kick-off will remain at 5 p.m.
Durham will be hosting the St. Clair Saints, who defeated the Fanshawe Falcons by a score of 4-1 in the first round of the playoffs. Durham finished the season with a 5-2-0 record, good enough for second place in the OCAA east region which earned them a bye to the quarterfinals.
The Saints went undefeated in their first seven matches before dropping a 4-0 decision against two-time national champion Humber. This loss aside, the Saints have a ton of confidence heading into the quarterfinals knowing they were the only team to defeat Sheridan this season. St. Clair's leading scorer, Stefan Milidrag (Windsor, Ont.), scored two of his six goals in the match. St. Clair outscored its opponents 18-14 during the regular season.
Durham heads into the quarterfinals on a three-game winning streak, where they outscored their opponents by a score of 8-1. Head coach
Dave Ashfield's offence was spread out throughout the line-up, with five different players accounting for the eight goals.
If the Lords hope to advance to the final four for the first time since 1999, their defence will need to continue shutting down the opposition's top scorers, as they have allowed only eight goals this season.
