OCAA Women's Basketball: Durham defeated Loyalist 74-45OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team opened the scoring and never looked back, defeating the Loyalist Lancers 74-45 in their home opener on Tuesday night at the CRWC.
Lindsay Panchan (Ajax, Ont.) led the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while
Hellen Dumbuya (Whitby,Ont.) had 15 points and 10 boards.
Domina Campbell (Scarborough, Ont.) added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Shelby Johnston led Loyalist offensively with 16 points and 10 boards. Letica Lopez added 10 points with nine rebounds.
After the first quarter the Lords led 17-10, but in the second quarter their lead was cut to two points, 22-20, with 6:32 until half. After trading baskets with the Lancers, Durham took off, going on a six-point run. They allowed only one more Loyalist basket before half, taking a 41-24 lead into the final 20 minutes.
They finished strong in the second half, outscoring Loyalist 13-9 and 20-12 in the final two quarters.
The Lords get this weekend off. Their next game is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31 at home against St. Lawrence.
