Box Score OCAA Men's VolleyballDurham College defeats Canadore 3-1 OSHAWA, Ont. – Durham College continues to be the lone undefeated team in OCAA men's volleyball this season.
Their 3-1 victory over the Canadore Panthers on Saturday night at home improved their regular season record to 7-0.
The Lords opened with a 25-16 first set win. During the set, captain
Jeremy Hoekstra (Cobourg, Ont.) put Durham College ahead 8-1 with his 300
th career kill. Hoekstra also continued to close in on Mike Goulding for eighth all-time in kills with the Lords (309).
Durham fell behind 8-2 to start the second set, but battled back to tie it 18-18. It was all for not as Canadore won the set 25-22 to tie the match 1-1.
The third set was tied 9-9 early on, but the Lords strung some points together to take control and eventually win it 25-21.
In the fourth, Hoekstra got his 310
th kill to pass Goulding for eighth all-time at Durham College. He finished the night with 14 in the match. The Lords won the set 25-19.
Matthew McGirr (Brampton, Ont.) added 11 kills, while
Petrus Kuypers (Haydon, Ont.) led the team in blocks with three.
Jordan Boucher and Brandon McBeath each had 11 kills to lead the Panthers.
