OCAA Men's Soccer: Durham defeated Seneca 2-1

OSHAWA, Ont. – Sasa Vukoje scored two goals on Thursday night to lead the Durham College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the Seneca Sting.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the 81st minute, Vukoje found a way to get behind Seneca's defence and made no mistake hitting the back left hand corner of the net for the game-winning goal.

With two minutes before extra time, Seneca had a scoring chance inside the box, but Durham goalkeeper Jonathan Codrington (Courtice, Ont.) came up with a diving save and knocked the ball off the post.

Seneca actually held a 1-0 lead in the early stages of the game with Kyle Lacorde-Ayres scoring his first of the season, but Durham would bounce right back as Vukoje scored his first of the game five minutes later.

Codrington stopped seven of eight Seneca shots on target, including back-to-back highlight reel saves just before halftime. Durham would match Seneca with eight shots on target.

The two sides came into the game with 1-0-0 records, each earning victories in their season openers. Durham is now alone in first place in the OCAA east region with six points.

The Lords will be put to the test on Sunday when they look to knock off the No. 9 ranked Algonquin Thunder in Ottawa. Algonquin is 1-0-0 to start the season.
