Men’s soccer shutout by Knights, wrap up season Friday at home

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's soccer team dominated possession in their match against Fleming College on Tuesday, but were stonewalled by Danny Grant as the Knights earned a 1-0 victory at Vaso's Field.

With 13 shots on goal to two – the result should have been in the Lords favour on Tuesday night, but Durham unfortunately was unable to beat the Knight's goalkeeper in the match.

In Peterborough earlier in the season the Lords were in a similar situation, being down 1-0. They came back to win that match 2-1. This time Grant turned aside all of Durham's shots, even including one he dropped and let roll towards the goal line before corralling it.

The lone goal came in the 37th minute by Joyal Gurung.

Mark Kamstra (Newcastle, Ont.) took the loss in goal for Durham.

This Friday night the Lords wrap up their regular season at home against the Algonquin Thunder. With a game on Cambrian for second in the east region, Durham only has a five-point advantage. A point on Friday or a Golden Shield loss would lock up second spot for the Lords.

Kick-off against Algonquin is 8:15 p.m. at Vaso's Field.
