Box Score OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team had a slight hiccup on Friday night in their home opener against Algonquin College, but bounced back to win the fifth set and take the match 3-2.
Shannon Dean (Whitby, Ont.) had a match-high 20 points to lead the Lords to their second victory of the season. She had six service aces, 13 kills and a block in the win.
Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) was the team's leader in kills with 15, while adding two aces.
Lucia Kalmeyer (Oshawa, Ont.) had a team-high three blocks – adding eight kills for 11 points.
Breanne Scheerhorn had a team-high 17 points for the Thunder, posting a game-high four blocks. She also had 12 kills and four aces.
Durham opened with a 25-17 first-set victory before falling 25-19 and 25-23 to trail the match 2-1.
A more positive fourth set victory of 25-16 set the Lords up for the coin-flip of a fifth set, which they trailed 8-7 when the teams switched sides. Durham finally powered through to win 15-11.
The Lords get little time off as they welcome the La Cité Coyotes on Saturday. First serve is 1 PM at the CRWC.
