Box Score OSHAWA, Ont. – After a 3-1 loss on Thursday night the Durham College men's volleyball team will have to wait until Wednesday to see if they have to play in a crossover match on Sunday, Feb. 21.
The Lords opened with a 25-23 loss to the Sting in the final regular season home game, but bounced back to tie the match with a 25-20 win.
Seneca would rattle off 25-19 and 25-20 third and fourth set wins en route to their victory.
Graduating senior
Matt McGirr (Brampton, Ont.) was monstrous offensively in the Lords loss with a game-high 17 kills, but struggled from the service line where he has been an ace much of the season.
Andrew Watson (Uxbridge, Ont.) added 12 kills and a service ace.
David Lazarev led the Sting offence with 15 kills, while Malik Welsh had a game-high four blocks.
McGirr was recognized after the match alongside
Damin Noss (Woodville, Ont.),
Braydon Rodgers (Leaskdale, Ont.),
Mike Harper (Oakville, Ont.) and
Nick Coleman (Brooklin, Ont.) as the 2015-16 group of graduating seniors.
The Lords are now in a three-way tie for first in the OCAA east division with only one spot up for grabs as the Seneca Sting host the provincial championship this year and therefore have a bye. Trent and Fleming play each other on Wednesday, while Durham faces the Georgian Grizzlies.
