Lords lose first game of the season to Sting

Box Score NORTH YORK - The Seneca Sting stayed perfect on Saturday with an 82-78 victory over the previously unbeaten Durham College women's basketball team.
 
In a game, which saw the lead change on numerous occasions, it was the Sting who took the final lead to outlast the Lords.
 
The Sting held a five-point lead after the first quarter in what showed off the offences of both teams.
 
Leading 25-20 entering the second frame, it was the Lords who came out flying, going on a 14-0 run to take a 34-25 lead. The Sting scored just three baskets in the quarter and trailed 44-31 at halftime.
 
The third quarter saw the Sting find their offensive game, outscoring the Lords 22-15 to pull within six points entering the final quarter.
 
With their offense in high-gear, the Sting poured in 29 points to rally back from the 13-point halftime deficit for the win.
 
Alcian Satchel topped the Sting with 23 points, including 16 in the second half, to go along with four assists. Taylor Allicock added 14 points and Shenice Stubbs contributed 12 points including an astounding 20 rebounds and 4 steals. Trill Peterson narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 8 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) and Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) led the Lords with 20 points each. Keisha Arthurworrey scored 13 points and Victoria Brody finished with 10 points.
 
Durham will look to rebound on Tuesday night in Barrie when they face the Georgian Grizzlies (0-4). Their week will end with a trip to Belleville to battle the Loyalist Lancers (1-1) on Friday night.
