SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Durham College women's basketball team finished their weekend at the Champlain (Lennoxville) Cougar Fall Classic with a 1-2 record.
Led by
Chyvon Thomas' (Ajax, Ont.) 20 points, Durham opened the weekend with a 78-59 victory over the Édouard Montpetit Lynx.
Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) and
Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.) each finished with 14 points.
Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, Ont.) and
Keisha Arthurworrey (Oshawa, Ont.) contributed 13 points apiece, while Kirby nearly had a double-double, picking up eight assists.
Their second game ended in a heartbreaking 70-68 loss to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Arthurworrey led with 23 points, followed closely by Kirby's 17.
To wrap up the weekend the Lords fell 69-52 to the host Champlain Cougars.
"I'm proud of our team and the results over the past three days," said head coach Heather Lafontaine. "With four games in three days against some talented programs I couldn't ask for much more. We gave everything we had in each game and this was a perfect way to continue our preparation for the regular season."
Stasiuk led Durham College with 15 in the final game of the weekend, with Thomas putting up 10.
The Lords now have a few weeks off before their season opener against the St. Lawrence Vikings in Kingston. Tip off on Friday, Oct. 19 is set for 6 p.m.
