ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Durham Lords men's soccer team opened their 2018 preseason campaign on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 18), dropping a 3-1 contest on the road versus the Brock Badgers.
"Having the opportunity to play against some OUA teams this preseason will be important to the development of our compete level heading into our OCAA schedule," said Lords head coach
Dave Ashfield. "With this being our first contest in our exhibition schedule we started a little slow, but we eventually found our footing and took a step in the right direction heading into our next match on Monday."
The lone Lords goal was scored by returning veteran
Cody Kraemer who was a key member of Durham's OCAA championship team a season ago. Ashfield also praised the play of his two keepers,
Kevon Grant and
Kristien Bissonette, who split time in the exhibition matchup.
Durham will continue their preseason schedule on Monday, Aug. 20 when they travel just down the 401 to challenge the Trent Excalibur. Kick off is scheduled for 8 p.m., with women's action scheduled for 6 p.m.
