Men's volleyball off to slow start

ETOBICOKE, Ont. – The Durham College men's volleyball team opened preseason action this weekend at the Humber Cup, but struggled early against some tough competition.

Against the host Hawks on Friday, the Lords were unable to take a set, with their highest total coming in at 18 points in the three-set match.

They followed that with a better effort in a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues (OUA). After falling 25-20 in the opening set, Durham bounced back with a 25-19 win of their own. Unfortunately for the Lords the Varsity Blues powered through with set wins of 25-19 and 25-12 to take the match.

Their weekend ended early with a pair of losses on Saturday, both 3-0 to the Windsor Lancers (OUA) and Limoilou Titans (RSEQ). Durham was outmatched as their best set was the second set against Windsor when they scored 17 points.

By finishing with four losses through the round-robin portion of the tournament, the Lords were eliminated from Sunday play.
