HAMILTON, Ont. - Continuing their preseason schedule, the Durham College women's basketball team defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers 67-54 in Hamilton on Friday evening.
"Tonight's win was a great team win," noted Lords head coach Heather Lafontaine. "Our defence was on point and I am really liking how our girls are coming together as we work through our preseason."
Defence was the name of the game for the Lords as they scored a total of 36 steals in the exhibition contest, consistently applying defensive pressure against the Mountaineers to force them into unfavourable passes.
On the offensive end first-year forward
Kendra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.) led the way with 14 points, while fellow newcomer to the green and gold
Andrea Zulich (Sudbury, Ont.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
Durham is right back at it tomorrow afternoon as they will travel the short drive to Ancaster to matchup with the Redeemer Royals in another preseason contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
