TORONTO, Ont. - Attending the annual Humber Cup preseason tournament, the Durham College men's volleyball team tallied three wins and three losses in Toronto over the three days.
DC opened their tournament against tough competition in the Toronto Varsity Blues and Nipissing Lakers, falling in straight sets to the Toronto opponents, before dropping a five-set match with the Lakers.
Durham rebounded the next morning with a straight sets win of their own against the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Geants. Matching up with the Windsor Lancers later that night, the Lords fell 3-1.
The Lords concluded tournament play sweeping their Sunday matches, winning in straight sets over the host Humber Hawks, before earning a hard-fought five-set win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
Durham will now have two weeks to work on their game ahead of the annual Adidas Cup, which Durham College hosts every Thanksgiving weekend. The Lords will open the two-day tournament, scheduled to take place Oct. 11-12, against the Conestoga Condors and CMU Blazers.
