WELLAND, Ont. - Just two days into 2020, the Durham College women's basketball team picked up their first win of the new decade, defeating the Niagara Knights 58-42 in exhibition action in Welland on Thursday evening.
Named the OCAA star of the week in the final week of competition for 2019,
Kendra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.) picked right up where she left off, leading the Lords with a team-high 19 points. She combined that with an impressive 18 rebounds to secure another double-double, continuing to dominate in the paint. Combo guard-forward
Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) also reached double-digit points in the win chipping in 12, with buckets coming from behind the three point line and on the fast break.
DC will continue to find their footing following the winter break as they face the Conestoga Condors in exhibition action on Friday, Jan. 3 in Welland. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Lords will return to regular season action on Tuesday, Jan. 14 when they welcome the Loyalist Lancers to the CRWCÂ to begin the second half of the OCAA schedule. Durham currently ranks tied for second in the crowded OCAA east standings with a 6-2 record.
