WINDSOR, Ont. – The Durham Lords women's basketball team had three players honoured at the OCAA championship banquet at St. Clair College on Wednesday night, highlighted by major provincial and national honours for
Kendra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.).
Kendra capped off her sensational rookie campaign with the green and gold by collecting six individual honours including being named a CCAA All-Canadian, OCAA east division player of the year, OCAA east and overall rookie of the year, OCAA east first team all-star, and an OCAA east all-rookie. Leading the Lords with 19.4 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per game, she ranked first in total rebounds and third in points per game in the province. Kendra recorded 12 double-doubles this year, appearing in all 16 regular season games for the Lords. Her most impressive outing was a 25 point and 21 rebound effort in a home win over the UTM Eagles on November 26. The freshman forward is the first Durham Lords rookie to receive All-Canadian honours since Lindsay Panchan in 2014-15, and becomes the second consecutive Lords player to be named the OCAA overall rookie of the year after
Marie Stasiuk received the award just last year.
Dual-sport athlete
Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) was also recognized on the evening, being named an OCAA east second team all-star. This is the second straight year Glendinning received all-star honours, previously being named an all-star in both softball and basketball a year ago. The third-year sport management student finished the regular season second in team scoring averaging 15.2 points per game, while shooting 37.6 percent from behind the three-point line which ranked her third in the province from beyond the arc. Glendinning also contributed 12 blocks on the defensive end.
Rounding out the Lords recognized at the championship banquet and joining her sister on the OCAA all-rookie team was
Sierra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.). The freshman guard averaged 7.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. The all-around performer guided the teams offence, while locking down some of the best guards in the province on defence. She finished the regular season ranked fifth in the OCAA in total assists (65) and Top 15 in total minutes (533).
