OSHAWA, ON - Knocking off the Loyalist Lancers for the third time in six days, the Durham College men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 preseason win in front of the home crowd at the CRWC on Wednesday night. Set scores for the match were 25-18, 25-22, 25-21.
The Lords offense excelled in the third exhibition contest between these two teams, recording 39 kills to just 17 from the Lancers. Durham was led by first-year middle
Michael Penney (Whitby, ON) who notched a team-high 12 points from the combination of eight kills and four blocks. Fellow first-year
Aidan Carne (Stoney Creek, ON) also broke double digit points with eight kills and two service aces, while
Quinton Hudgins (Port Perry, ON) and
William Egan (Cobden, ON) added nine and six points, respectively.
Guiding the teams offense was first-year setter
Kyle Travis (Courtice, ON) who finished the evening with 26 assists, supplemented by a second set setter run for
Tyler Jegen (Calgary, AB) who added 11 assists. On the defensive side, libero
Jacques Tournadre (Milton, ON) was excellent in continuing rallies and setting up the Lords attack, finishing the night with 11 assists through three sets played.
The Wednesday night contest brought an end to the Lords preseason schedule with the OCAA season set to begin this coming January. The first match on the schedule will see DC welcome the George Brown Huskies to the CRWC on Thursday, Jan. 13 with first serve scheduled for 8 p.m. All Durham Lords volleyball matches will be available online via
