OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College Esports team have been picking up the pace when it comes to their competition schedule, with all five active teams competing in matches across six different leagues of play.
Rocket League
The DC Rocket League team continued their dominant play earning three more victories over the past two week span.
Continuing their play in the CSL, the Lords defeated Sheridan and collected a forfeiture win over Norwich to finish the regular season with an outstanding 9-1 record. Playoff competition for the CSL is expected to begin Feb. 20.
Meanwhile, the next round of NECC competition began and the defending champion Lords won their first match of the new season versus fellow Canadian competitors, the St. Clair Saints. Durham currently has five more contests in NECC scheduled into March.
The Lords Rocket League team is made up of
Conner McGlennan (Ajax, Ont.),
Dallas Smith (Ajax, Ont.),
Drew Fairbrother (Bradford, Ont.), and
Jared Greenwood (Tilbury, Ont.).
Valorant
Finding their footing as the newest game added to the Durham College Esports roster, the Valorant team concluded play in one league, while beginning strong in another.
Finishing play in their CSL season, which began all the way back in October, the Lords dropped their final two regular season contests versus West Virginia and the US Military Academy. DC finished the CSL season with a 4-6 record overall.
However, when one season ends another begins as competition in the NACCS kick started for the Valorant squad. The Lords won two matches, knocking off Keiser University and UNC-Wilmington, before dropping their most recent match versus UNB.
The Valorant squad consists of
Cody McConnell (Ajax, Ont.),
Dev Patel (Pickering, Ont.),
Dylan Mills (Pickering, Ont.),
Eric Duthie (Pickering, Ont.), and
Moosa Syed (Ajax, Ont.).
CS:GO
Durham College's CS:GO team competed in four matches between the NACCS and NACE leagues, splitting their record 2-2 over those four games.
Beginning with NACCS action, the Lords fell versus York, before bouncing back to defeat Illinois.
Meanwhile, in NACE competition DC won versus Truett McConnell University and dropped a decision to Central Michigan.
The CS:GO squad consists of
Austin Waite (Aurora, Ont.),
David Kerr (Oshawa, Ont.),
Riley Barber (Whitby, Ont.),
Will Finnigan (Whitby, Ont.), and
Bobby Montminy (Ottawa, Ont.).
League of Legends
Competing in the Upsurge league, which features teams not having to be affiliated with a school, the Lords League of Legends squad are in tough competing against some of the very best across North America.
DC earned the win in their first outing, knocking off the Oasis Galeforce, but have since dropped two contests versus Kektastrophe and the Akuma Blades.
The Lords have one more schedule Upsurge match before a bye and playoff seeding begins.
The League of Legends team is made up of
Aaron Oke (Peterborough, Ont.),
Alex Luo (Scarborough, Ont.),
Alex Wingerak (Courtice, Ont.),
Leo Yang (Markham, Ont.), and
Sawyer Clements (Niagara Falls, Ont.).
Hearthstone
Rounding out the action for the Durham Lords, the Hearthstone team opened their NACE season with two matches so far.
In their opening match, competition was not that far away as they matched up with cross-campus partners Ontario Tech. In a back-and-forth affair, DC knocked off the Ridgebacks with the 3-2 victory. Durham then followed that up with a win over Lourdes University to move to 2-0 so far on the season.
NACE competition is scheduled to contine into April, with the Lords also preparing to compete in NECC league play.
The Hearthstone team consists of all returning players in
Kyle Lavelley (Whitby, Ont.),
Noah Marshall (Pickering, Ont.), and
Steven Gill (Whitby, Ont.).
