OSHAWA, ON – Extending their unbeaten streak to five games in women's basketball, the Durham Lords scored a season-high 75 points in a Tuesday night win over the Seneca Sting.
Playing a sound defensive game, the Lords held Seneca to only one point more than halfway through the opening quarter while Durham scored nine of their own. The Sting found their rhythm late in the quarter, trailing only 18-12 heading into the second quarter.
Durham was able to extend their lead into double digits before the halftime break, taking a 34-23 lead. The Lords had a greater offensive output in the second half, scoring 19 in the third quarter and a game-high 22 in the fourth to continue widening the gap. Defensively, the Lords held Seneca to no more than 14 points in a quarter, en route to a 75-50 win.
In 24 minutes of play, Daija Thompson (Whitby, ON) led the team with 23 points, five rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal. Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) also hit 20 points, grabbing five boards and posting an assist, a steal and a block.
Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, ON) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds on the evening.
The Lords have one more home game before the holiday break, hosting the Algonquin Wolves on November 25.
