OSHAWA, ON – With a win in three sets over the Georgian Grizzlies, the Durham Lords women's volleyball team have 10 wins in their first 10 matches of the regular season.
Durham won the opening set 25-14, before making the second set the quickest of the evening with a 25-12 win. In the final frame, the Grizzlies battled back but the Lords would prove to be too much for the visitors, winning 25-18 to complete the sweep.
With 34 assists in total across the team, Brooke Young (Chestermere, AB) led the team with 17 and Jill Batsford (Kingston, ON) was right on her tail with 15.
Batsford and Jessie Anatol (Ajax, ON) both had strong days from the end line, each serving four aces on the evening. Samantha Payne (West Kelowna, BC) added another three for the Lords.
Offensively, Jessica Joensen (Brooklin, ON) recorded 15 kills on 20 total attempts, while Cassidy Unrau (Port Coquitlam, BC) and Mia Hildebrandt (Winnipeg, MB) each hit seven.
The Lords go on the road to Belleville on November 30 to wrap up the 2022 calendar year with a match against the Loyalist Lancers. Following the holiday break, you can catch the Lords in action at home next with the Adidas Cup on January 6-7, 2023.
Our next home regular season match will be at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre on Thursday, January 26, 2023 against the Lancers.
