Box Score TORONTO, ON – A 90
th minute goal for the Lords sent the men's soccer team home with a point, drawing the George Brown Huskies 2-2 on the road.
Nearing the end of a back-and-forth first half, Guedei Djimi (Ajax, ON) fired a rocket from 65 yards out over the goalkeeper's head and into the back of the net to give the Lords a 1-0 lead in the 41
st minute.
In the second half, the Huskies were awarded a 55
th minute free kick from just outside of the 18-yard box, and after the defensive wall blocked the initial shot, the Huskies jumped on the rebound and put the ball in the back of the net to tie up the match.
George Brown would then score two minutes later off another set piece to take the lead. A free kick from near the left sideline was redirected with a header in the box off the crossbar and over the goal line.
Durham were awarded a free kick near the 18-yard box in the 90
th minute and
Skylar Grey (Ajax, ON) stepped up to fire the ball into the bottom right corner to tie the game and salvage a point for the Lords to stay unbeaten.
Garrett Werner (Ajax, ON) stopped four of six shots on target in the match. The Lords recorded a total of three shots on target, coming from Djimi, Grey and Sean Allan (Whitby, ON).
Durham will next play at home as the Cambrian Golden Shield come to town on Saturday, September 17. Kick-off is set for 3:15 PM.
