Winning streak extends to three with win in North York

NORTH YORK, ON – In their second game back following the winter break, the Durham Lords women's basketball team pick up their third consecutive win dating back to December with a 72-59 win over the Seneca Sting.

Tuesday evening was a tale of two totally different halves. Seneca put on a show for the home fans in the first half, taking a 37-25 lead into halftime. Coming out of the break with only 25 points, the Lords scored a total of 30 in the third quarter alone - their most offensively dominant 10-minute frame of the season.

Durham took the lead back with 3:36 remaining in the third quarter after a three-point shot from Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, ON) made it 45-43 for the visitors and added another 10 points after that. After not having scored a bucket since the first quarter, Morrison went 5-for-7 from the field in the third for a total of 13 points.

The Lords kept their foot on the gas in the fourth quarter with another 17 points. A defensively sound effort held the hosts to only nine points in the fourth, allowing the Lords to cruise to a 13-point victory.

Morrison finished the evening as the team leader in points with 28. Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) registered 21 points, four rebounds, four steals, a pair of assists and a block.

Hannah Heimonen (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) and Kendra Oliver (Ajax, ON) rounded out the four players with double-digit points, each scoring 10.

Durham and Seneca were both nearly identical in field goal percentage and free throw percentage, however the Lords took advantage of a much more efficient three-point shooting game. The lead changed seven times across the entirety of the night, with a massive swing from a 12-point Seneca lead in the second quarter to a 17-point Durham lead in the fourth.

With their eighth win of the season, the Lords sit on top of the OCAA East with 16 points. The Lords continue on the road with another trip to Toronto this weekend to play against the George Brown Huskies.
