Joensen, Stewart combine for 20 kills in win over Huskies

TORONTO, ON – On Saturday afternoon, the Durham Lords women's volleyball team improved to 14-0 with a win in straight sets over the George Brown Huskies on the road.

Durham took the first set 25-17 and that would be the frame with the closest margin. In the second set, the Lords came out flying and ultimately won 25-11 before finishing off the match with a 25-15 win in the third set to sweep the hosts.

The Lords had a significant advantage from the service line and at the net, outscoring George Brown in service aces 6-1 and blocked shots 13-2.

Jessica Joensen (Brooklin, ON) led the team in kills with 12 on 28 attempts, also registering two service aces and a blocked shot for 15.0 points. This puts Joensen within four points of making history as the Durham College women's volleyball all-tme leader in career points.

Katie Stewart (Gananoque, ON) had eight kills on 21 attempts, with five digs on the afternoon. Brooke Young () accounted for 22 of 27 assists generated by the Lords.

At the net, Mia Hildebrandt (Winnipeg, MB) had five blocked shots, while Young had three. Six different Lords contributed to 13 blocked shots in the game. Devyn Fraser (Uxbridge, ON) led the Lords in digs with seven.

The Lords are back in action on Wednesday to kick-off the February calendar in North York against the Seneca Sting.
