SUDBURY, ON - The Durham College women's soccer team improve to 6-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over the Cambrian Golden Shield on Sunday.
Moments before halftime, Jaime Pye (Oshawa, ON) scored her sixth goal in as many matches played this season to put the Lords ahead 1-0, capping off a 10-shot opening 45 minutes for Durham.
Not long out of the halftime break, Erika Bjorgum (Kingman, AB) reached double-digit territory with her 10th goal of the season - tying an opposing Cambrian player for second in the OCAA in goals.Â
The 51st minute strike was the insurance marker and the final goal of the game, giving the Lords a 2-0 victory to sweep their Northern Ontario road trip.
Durham outshot the Golden Shield 22-5 in the game as Kelsa O'Donoghue (Ajax, ON) earned the clean sheet. The Lords were only cautioned once with a yellow card.
With three matches left on the regular season schedule, the Lords will play two at home - beginning with a meeting with the George Brown Huskies at Vaso's Field on Wednesday, October 4. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
