OSHAWA, ON - Sage Thomas-Roberts (Toronto, ON) broke the Durham College record for most goals scored by a soccer player in a single season in school history on Saturday afternoon, scoring six goals for a season total of 22 as the Lords defeated the Fleming Phoenix.
After a ceremony celebrating the 10 graduating seniors on the team, Thomas-Roberts broke open the scoring less than two minutes in and added a second in the 17th minute for a 2-0 lead.
Jessica Ferreira (Ajax, ON), a senior, scored her third goal of the season in the 21st minute before Sage scored two goals one minute apart to surpass the hat trick mark.
Durham added three more goals in the opening 45 minutes with two from Raeane Messias (Ajax, ON) and one from Faith Holmes (Pickering, ON) to go into the break with an eight goal lead.
Thomas-Roberts broke the school record in the 53rd minute after scoring two goals to open the second half, finishing the match with a total of six.
After 27 minutes of scoreless play, Malina Amidovski (Whitby, ON), Erin Michalicka (Pickering, ON) and Jaime Pye (Oshawa, ON) got on the board for a 13-0 finish.
Kelsa O'Donoghue (Ajax, ON) earned the clean sheet in her final game In net for the Lords.
Durham are set to host a playoff game at Vaso's Field this coming week with date, time and opponent to be determined. Keep an eye out for an announcement in the coming days.
