OSHAWA, ON - The Durham College women's soccer team defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers 1-0 in a quarterfinal match at Vaso's Field, booking their ticket to the final four at the 2023 OCAA Women's Soccer Championship.
It was a scoreless affair in the first half, forcing the Mountaineers to make a trio of substitutions under the half hour mark to readjust their game plan.
The deadlock was broken in the second half as Erin Michalicka (Pickering, ON) scored on a feed from Sage Thomas-Roberts (Toronto, ON) to score what would ultimately be the game winning goal.Â
Michalicka had four goals in the regular season and scored her fifth in all competitions in a big moment.
Kelsa O'Donoghue (Ajax, ON) earned another clean sheet, stopping all five shots on target in the 90 minute game.
The Lords will now meet the Humber Hawks in the semifinal at the provincial championship. The championship will take place some time between October 27-29 so stay tuned for specific dates, times and details this week.
